PIEN DE VACIA HUT

As it can be seen from the name, for centuries the area of Pien de Vacia has been affected by grazing of dairy cattle. At one time this area, properly taken care of, allowed to host several heads of livestock owned by the inhabitants of the valley.
With the abandonment of traditional agricultural activities, which characterized the second half of the twentieth century, the forest has regained most of the ancient pastures leaving out only the larger "holes". Right in one of these it a new "malga" has been installed, including a stud and workshops for dairy production.

Today Malga Pien de Vacia, easily accessible from the tourist centre of Santa Fosca either on foot or by paved road, is the gateway to the Mondeval de Sora, a destination for tourists and nature lovers. VISIT www.malgapiendevacia.it
